FAIR GO POLICIES

Government waste and mismanagement has cost the Victorian people tens of billions of dollars. That money should be spent on schools, hospitals, roads and everything else that improves our lives.

Governments exist to protect and serve ordinary people. Our Police need the powers to protect us. Our courts need to understand how bail decisions are hurting us. And we need to invest in the grass roots support that helps keep kids away from crime in the first place.

Home prices are high because there aren't enough houses to buy. We must establish Growth Zones in seven regions across Victoria to relieve the pressures in Melbourne with exemption from stamp duty for home-buyers

Labor has allowed our public service to become so bloated that it how stands in the way or progress and productivity. We need 30% reductions in public service employees across the board to reduce costs and increase economic activity.

There is no excuse for any Government to fail to provide proper health care for all Victorians. Rather than wasting billions of the Suburban Rail Loop, money should be re-directed to end ambulance ramping and fix our crumbling hospitals.

Half of Victorian schools should be free to become Independent Public Schools, similar to systems which have been operating in Europe for decades. Discipline also needs to be re-introduced into all Victorian schools. Disruptive students need to be provided places in specialist schools that offer intensive support, and expulsion must be allowed in examples of extreme disruption or danger to other students.

Small businesses must be supported in order to provide economic growth, increased employment, and sustainable communities. Rather than pandering to Big Business, the Government must support the creation of thousands of new small businesses across Victoria.

Climate Policy is a Federal Government issue. But there is a lot our State Government can also do to protect our environment. We must protect Victoria’s environment by keeping our bays and waterways clean, by reducing pollution, and by safeguarding our wildlife. We must also ensure Victoria’s natural attractions remain accessible and welcoming to all Victorians so we can love where we live.

Poker machines are the second leading cause of crime in Victoria, after the illegal drug trade. And sports gambling is destroying the codes we all love. We must protect all Victorians from deliberately destructive practices of the gambling industry through firm, evidence-based regulation.
